Oh Amsterdam!

We arrived in Amsterdam after a long day of touring the All We Need Exhibit, being impacted strongly through its multimedia displays and through heart strings. The long bus ride was useful to start to digest what we had seen and experienced.

Amsterdam was mildly chaotic as the bus dropped us off at the edge of the nightclub/coffee bar/cafe district and we had to make our way to the hostel, following multiple leaders with no map at 11pm through a maze of drunk, stoned and high energy people on a Friday night! The area was packed and so was the hostel! We stayed 6 per room and dropped our bags off and hit the town. Many of us did not return until the wee hours, taking in various activities such as cafes, raves and general meandering around town! The weather couldn't have been better - sunny and dry!

I walked around with a great deal of my friends in a large pack, getting our bearings and then breaking into smaller groups to explore. Amsterdam is an incredible city, both at night and during the day. The central part where we stayed had bustling streets with bikes, bodies and tulips! The shopping is amazing and very European. Tulips abound!







Sarah and I wandered around together during one of our days there and covered a lot of ground. We went to the Sex Museum and had some good laughs, ate yummy belgium waffles, went to one of the best flea markets EVER and bought some 1912 postcards.









I drooled over all of the vintage boots and tried to find a chess board but ended up buying a cool hat for my brother for Xmas. I had to give it a spin around town though and gave it a good tour of the sights and activities known to Amsterdam. Hope you enjoy Bri!






One of my favorite parts about Amsterdam was enjoying the beautiful weather and being able to sit outside and eat breakfast by the canal or...


to be able to have a pint of beer sitting on a bench OUTSIDE the establishment without having to feel like you are doing something bad or wrong...right behind me in this photo is a large outdoor patio area (with no fences, chains or ropes) where about 40 people are sitting on a part of the bridge and drinking beer and eating. It's all so civilized really!
